The Truth About Mobile Phones

There is no doubt in the fact that science has made a lot of developments in the past, and is still bringing more of the astonishing discoveries and inventions. True is the saying that the more you live, the more wonders of science you get to see. Mobile phones are also one of the technological inventions, with the first mobile phone made by Doctor Martin Cooper in 1973.

When the mobile was first invented, it was invented with the sole purpose of allowing distant communication, without the use of wires. The users of mobile phones at that time would have no idea at all about how this gadget would be used in the future. Now as we see, we have loads of features in cell phones, ranging from digital cameras, to the availability of internet and email service. A business man can use this small gadget for making deals worth thousands of bucks. However, in this world of science, you get to see advantages accompanying disadvantages at all places. It depends on how the mobile phone is used to decide whether it is used in a negative way or a positive way.

So let us first discuss the positive things about mobile phones. Where you can contact a person thousands of miles away, you can also send him messages, at any time of the day. However, where you can call one person at a time from the mobile phone, but in terms of the messaging service, you could send a message to a large number of recipients at one time. Among the various studies made in terms of the benefits of mobile phones, one of the most amazing truths revealed about the mobile phone is that the electromagnetic waves produced by a mobile phone have a role in increasing the brain’s metabolism, especially in the part near the ear. This result was achieved after carrying out a research in which 47 males were asked to keep mobile phones on their ears for a period of 50 minutes, and at the same time, glucose was injected in their blood. It was noticed that during the time when the mobile phone was near the ear, the glucose burnt at a higher rate, than that when the mobile phone was away from the ear. Isn’t this just amazing?

These were the positives about the cell phones. However, talking about the negatives, we will see that they will outnumber the positive aspects. Ask parents about the disadvantages of cell phones, and they will have an unending list of the harms that their children are facing because of continuous exposure to cell phones. One of these is the wastage of time. Children of today are seen addicted towards the cell phones, such that they spend hours and hours, messaging their friends and playing games. As a result, they neglect their studies and show carelessness in other responsibilities. Many people even misuse the cell phones and disturb others calling them for just no reason and sending them senseless messages.

Apart from all these, the most dangerous of the harms of cell phones are those on the users health. It is said that continuous exposure to the electromagnetic waves released by the mobiles may cause cancer, and brain swelling. These two diseases are extremely dangerous, and their results can be really harmful. A study was made in Australia in which some mice were exposed to these electromagnetic waves produced by mobiles, for a period of 18 months. When the mice were tested after this, majority of them were diagnosed positive for cancer.
